About the Apprenticeship Levy & Skills England

The Apprenticeship Levy is a government initiative that aims to provide learning and development opportunities for working professionals throughout their careers. Any employer in England can access the levy to fund training for their employees.

Skills England is the Labour government’s new skills and education initiative. Alongside the Department for Education, it will be responsible for the levy, incorporating the work currently delivered by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE).

Skills England aims to bring together central and local government, businesses, training providers and unions to meet the nation's skills needs across the country over the next decade. This initiative will be taking shape over the next year.

Off-the-job training

Off-the-job training is a mandatory requirement of all apprenticeships. The minimum requirement per week is six hours. Hult apprenticeships typically require around 8-9 hours to successfully achieve a high-quality outcome.
